Who does IW think will win the World Cup?

Subzero, Ice Warriors News Centre — Hey Ice Warriors! With the world cup already underway, the tournament is already starting to show which teams look sharp, which ones are struggling, and which fanbases might be getting a little too confident too early. So today, we asked IW one simple question: Who do you think will win the World Cup? First, we looked at what the community voted in a poll, and after that, we asked some members to explain their picks in a bit more detail. Let’s see who IW thinks has what it takes to go all the way!

Who does the IW community think will win the world cup?

Firstly, getting a tie for third place we have Spain and Argentina, both with 11% of the votes!

Next up, getting 16% of the votes each (totaling 32%), and tying for 2nd place is…. France and Brazil!!

And the community’s choice, with 36% of the votes, IW has chosen Portugal as their 2026 FIFA World Cup winners!

But of course, a poll only tells us who people voted for, not why they voted that way. So, we also asked a few IW members to explain their picks in more detail. Here’s what they had to say!

IceQueen1020: Morocco 🇲🇦 have been the dark-horses for some time, in the previous FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, they emerged and proved to be real contenders. 4 years ago, Morocco became the first African-Arab nation to reach a World Cup semi-final. Morocco 🇲🇦 represents unmatched, unfathomable, and unprecedented faith, spirit, dedication and love for the most beloved language of the world: football. They are pioneers of freedom and peace. Morocco paved a path in which the beautiful people of Palestine 🇵🇸 felt like they belonged in the World Cup 2022. Many fans and Moroccan players were seen waving both 🇲🇦🇵🇸 flags in solidarity for freedom of the people in Palestine. For the first time in history, we have witnessed the Palestinian 🇵🇸 flag being officially allowed by FIFA World Cup 2026. 🇲🇦 Morroco, Morocco, my heart is in Morroco. ❤️
p.s for anyone wondering, my soul belongs in Medina, the most peaceful city to exist. 🩵

H.A.M.I: I dont really care about the world cup that much, but i think Brazil will win just cause they look like they know ball (though in my heart i want Haiti to win because Haiti is the best and i am haitian😉. I think also Haiti WOULD win if the refs werent so BIASED because SCOTLAND loves grabbing people

Leah: Hm. That’s a tricky question! I think it’ll be around six or seven.

Llama: Uhhh, I think Spain has a good chance at winning the world cup because they have a good team overall, but I suppose Argentina can get it this year again too.

Sebzy: I mean, obviously I want Norway to win, and I would probably become the most annoying person alive if it happened. Norway actually has some good players right now too, like Haaland and Ødegaard, so its not like we’re showing up with 11 random guys from the local store parking lot lol. If everything goes well, i do think Norway could surprise people and maybe go further than expected. But realistically, winning the whole world cup won’t happen. So as much as my heart says Norway, realistically I want to go with Spain. England, Brazil, Argentina and France are obviously also strong contenders, but I dont really want France to win, so i’m respectfully ignoring that possibility. My realistic pick is Spain, but my delusional and much more fun answer is Norway.

Dark Angel: yk what, i think Portugal will. i mainly believe this cuz there’s our king Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal overall just has a good chance of winning, Spain and France might have better odds but im willing to place my bets on Portugal hahaha. 😝

Nanna Banana: So I think Denmark is going to win because, well I’m Danish and Denmark is really cool yk. I don’t really watch World Cup, but I still need Denmark to win, because it’s my totally awesome country. I know we technically lost to Scotland, but if we ignore that, we still have play-offs, so we still have a chance hehehe. And if Denmark loses completely, I will riot and send my army of 10000000000000000000 banana soldiers and destroy World Cup forever muahahaha. So yes I want and need Denmark to win 🙂‍↕️

DelightedGOYAL: I’m gonna be weird and say The Netherlands. I feel like they’re really balanced and are quite reliable. They had a mid performance against Japan today but i think they can hold their form against bigger teams like England and Germany. and who knows maybe they can pull off a miracle against France‘s nightmare squad 😭 . But obviously i must not forget ENGLANDD 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 i hope they win and bring it home 😁

Erick09:I certainly hope Argentina wins the world cup, considering Messi is not under the same pressure as he was back in 2022. We may be having some issues as some of the key players are still recovering from injuries done these past months, but I believe there’s always that passion from the team to come out on top.

H.mz: Portugal because they have Ronaldo and it is because they have a lot of good talent and skill which will carry them to an ez win bc they have CRISTIANO RONALDO SUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII which means like they have one of the best players of all time which means that the team will coordinate well and give ronaldo the best angles and chances to score to make the team win very easy. this also will be very likely bc fun fact in the UEFA Nations League in 2025 they won in a very pressured match. So i think Portugal has a very very very big chance.

Aiga: Ok so I think I want Germany to win this world cup cause I think they are pretty good at football. They scored in 5mins so yeah.

RamenBender6: i hate to tell you i don’t follow sports 😂 i watched a little bit of the basketball game and my mom was proud that i knew some player got three points because he made the basket from behind the blue line 😂 you’re lucky i know that the world cup is soccer lol i guess whatever team Messi is on. He’s the only player i know–my students like him. (Argentina)

Shanks: In my opinion, this world cup will belong to Portugal. I chose Portugal first because of their incredible midfield of Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, and Joao Neves. They are the best midfielders in the world right now, dictating games. As the football saying goes, the game is decided by it’s midfield. And the other reason, is that i see Cristiano Ronaldo as my idol. From heartbreaks in 2006 in Germany, 2010 in South Africa, 2014 in Brazil, 2018 in Russia, and 2022 in Qatar, i think it’s his time, and Portugal‘s time to win it. For Cristiano, for the world class Portugal team, and for Diogo Jota. With the incredible midfield they have, the explosive wingers, Cristianos leadership and presence, The great defense, and Diogo Costa in goal, i think it’s the golden generation of Portugal. If there is a time for them to win it all, it’s NOW. VIVA PORTUGAL!

Bom:To be honest, I dont really know who is going to win since I don’t watch football that much but I’m rooting for Spain because.. I have no idea, guess its the Spanish roots in me. Anyways, I also found out that a lot of people are rooting for Spain too, being apparently one of the the top favorites along with France. Don’t know if that’ll change in the future though 🤔

Elaina: England will win because England is the best. England is bringing it home for once and England will sweep every country in its way because they’re the best. Every other country sucks mwahahahaha so yeah ITS COMING HOMEEE 😎

CladeKOA: Due to the global issues I Will not be watching the 2026 World Cup However I do Strongly Support Portugal as I been a fan since I was a kid and CR7 aka Cristiano Ronaldo will carry the Portugal Team to victory and the only reason last year Portugal didn’t win cuz it was rigged by the Messi the minion as he told me gru to buy the world cup so it’s obvious that it was rigged. However this year CR7 has developed a anti minion campaign therefore Messi can not rig this year match Messi has also been exposed for using ai software so I’m sure the 2026 world cup will take action against this outrageous minion and yeah Long live Portugal!

Salah:I predict Spain to win the World Cup despite their unfortunate draw against Cape Verde in their opening match. In my eyes, they possess one of the most promising squads in the tournament and have all the qualities needed to make a deep run. That said, I would love to see one of my home countries, Saudi Arabia or Morocco, lift the trophy if such a dream becomes reality. As with every World Cup, individual brilliance will likely play a major role. Lamine Yamal may ultimately be the key to how far Spain can go. Whether he delivers on the biggest stage remains to be seen, but I can’t help but feel a similar sense of excitement to what many felt before Spain’s historic triumph in 2010.

Muffy: Who could win the next World Cup? There are several strong contenders. Traditional football powerhouses such as Brazil and Germany remain among the favorites. Brazil, the most successful nation in World Cup history with five titles, continues to produce talented players and has a rich footballing legacy. Germany has maintained a consistently strong level over the years, rarely experiencing dramatic rises or falls in performance.
Other teams also have a realistic chance of making a deep run in the tournament. England possesses an exciting generation of young talent and could potentially reach the quarter-finals or even the semi-finals. Spain, after dominating world football during their golden era from 2008 to 2012, has rebuilt with a squad full of promising young stars. Portugal will be motivated to help Cristiano Ronaldo achieve the one major trophy missing from his career before he retires. Morocco impressed the world with their recent performances and, with several emerging talents, could be a dark horse candidate. Egypt also deserves a mention, as they have shown quality in recent years and could surprise many people.
In my opinion, Egypt will win the World Cup—I don’t care what anyone says! However, looking at things objectively, teams like Spain and Brazil are among the most likely candidates to lift the trophy.

┏°❀°Yano°❀°┓: In my opinion, I think Uruguay is going to win. Just by looking at the Saudi Arabian team, they do NOT look like they’re expecting or even going to try and win the WC. Uruguay just has more potential of winning by their team and the expectations ;D
Instead of all that, Jojo Teri will win the World Cup. ( wait what, JOJO TERI!? –Shanks)
