Chapter 2: Reuniting

In the unknown location, the green creatures opened a door into a dark room and threw Snow in. Before he could regain consciousness and register where he was, they slammed the door shut, sending him into pitch blackness.

Snow opened his eyes. “Where the hell am I?” he asked himself. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a rustling sound a few meters away. “Who’s there?”

“Snow?” a voice whispered, “Is that you?” Snow edged closer, and saw Purple and Oregan through the gloom.

Snow gasped. “Oregan and Purple?! What are you guys doing here?”

Purple shrugged. “I don’t know…” she replied, “All I remember is walking along the beach, until I fell down a hole…and was knocked out.”

Oregan decided to speak. “As for me, those green thingies just came out of nowhere and tried to jump on me. I fought about half of them off, but the others got the better of me.”

“So…nobody knows where we are?” Snow asked. The two others shook their heads. “Well…is anybody else here?” Oregan turned and pointed to what appeared to be a corner.

“When I woke up, you were both still out, but he wasn’t. He hasn’t said a word since I first noticed him…” Purple explained. Snow glanced over at where Oregan was pointing, and saw a figure huddled there. Feeling concerned for whoever this was, he attempted to help. “Hey, I can’t really tell who you are because of how dark it is…If you are wondering about me, it’s Snowskitter.”

“It’s Barry.” came the blunt reply. Barry looked to the boy dressed in white. “Why have they brought us here?”

“Who knows? But don’t worry. Once we find an escape route here, we will get out.”

Barry didn’t seem as optimistic as he usually was in Snow’s point of view. He just decided to leave Barry be, and walked back to where Oregan and Purple were standing.

There was another room next door to the room Snow, Oregan, Purple and Barry were in. Gtu had just awoken to find himself imprisoned with a few others. He grunted as he tried to recollect what happened before he was thrown in there. The last thing I remember was getting attacked…then there was this flash of light, and-

“Hey, you’re finally up!” a voice cried out. The boy rolled over to see nothing but darkness. Little did he know that Raven was standing in front of him.

“What? Who is that?” Gtu asked.

“It’s me, Raven. RavenPAW to be exact.”

“Oh…would you happen to know where we are? Or if anybody else is here?” Gtu asked, slowly standing up and coming face to face with the girl.

“Only Guido and Maid.” she replied, pointing to two nearby spaces. Maid was to the left of Raven and Gtu, and appeared to be deep in thought about something. Guido meanwhile was more towards the corner, shuddering. He seemed to be a bit panicked for some reason, probably because of how suddenly everything had happened. “I’ve tried comforting them both, but with no response. They aren’t so talkative like they usually are, are they?” Raven joked.

Gtu laughed slightly before looking around the dark room. “It looks like we’re probably going to be here for a while…”

For what seemed like hours, the two separate groups sat in silence. They were all either confused, worried or scared about what was going on. Where were they? Who brought them here, and for what reason? As these questions circled their minds, both doors were suddenly opened. Two of the green creatures stood at each doorway, each carrying small guns and a green barrel. Even though they couldn’t speak, the message was pretty clear. They wanted the eight Ice Warriors to follow them, and make no sudden movements. Nobody spoke, all out of fear.

They followed the creatures through the grey corridors, one after another, until they found themselves in a dark room. In the room, however, there was a round platform with a weird symbol on it. It was a circle with a horizontal line going across the bottom of it. A vertical line went down the far left of it, making a cross in the bottom left corner. The creatures pointed to the platform, indicating that they were to step on it. As they did so, one of the creatures walked over to a control panel and pressed one of the buttons. The group of eight heard a whirring sound before a green flash took over their vision.

The eight soon found themselves in another dark room. No creatures could be seen, so everyone assumed it was safe. It was silent for a while, until Gtu finally said something. “What was the point in that?” he asked.

“Ssh.” whispered Barry, “Can’t you hear that?” Everybody listened, but nothing was heard, except for silence. Suddenly, a loud and booming voice emanated from nowhere.

“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the 64th CPAC Army Tourney!!” it cried. A nearby crowd cheered, screamed and clapped. “This year, our contenders will be from the Ice Warriors, testing out all of the skills they’ve learned through their training with their fellow troops!”

“Contestant number one! He’s known for his icy personality, it’s Snowskitter!” The crowd let out another gigantic cheer as the spotlight was turned on Snow. Unsure of what to do, he smiled and bowed in greeting as the crowd chanted his name.

“Contestant number two! He’s one of the most random people in the Ice Warriors. It’s Barry!” Another cheer filled the room, although most of the screams seemed to be from girls. Barry blushed slightly at all of the cheering that was taking place around him.

“Contestant number three! That little kitten girl who can become a cat with ease! This is Ravenpaw!” The spotlight moved to the female who looked out as several people cheered and clapped. She waved to the crowd happily, earning more screams.

“Contestant number four! He may seem normal, but don’t underestimate his power! Guido, everybody!” Guido suddenly seemed to turn more timid than he usually was. He shyly waved to everyone who was clapping.

“Contestant number five! As one of the co-leaders of the mighty Ice Warriors, he will be tough to beat! Gtu!” Gtu got many cheers as well. Like Raven, he just waved to the crowd, as it seemed like the only plausible thing left to do.

“Contestant number six! She’s feisty and deadly, swift and quick! Meet Maid!” Maid didn’t seem to do much, she just stood there silently as the cheers of males took over the room.

“Contestant number seven! A loveable girl who dresses in the colors of a lilac. Everyone, Purple!” Purple just copied Raven and Gtu’s examples of waving to the crowd. She got lots of smiles and claps.

“Finally, contestant number eight! This warrior is a fist fighting POWERHOUSE! Put your hands together for Oregan!” Once again, many cheers poured out from the fans. Oregan smiled and got himself into a fighting stance.

Tes then turned back to the crowd. “Which one of these warriors will take every challenge that is thrown at them, and become this year’s Army Champion? Or, will they fail and be sent home with NOTHING? Be sure to be here tomorrow for the first round of the CPAC Army Tourney!”The crowd cheered as the lights faded out. The fans began to file out as Tes looked at the eight fighters. “Now, you’re all probably wondering what’s going on here…” the god was about to explain everything, but Oregan was already ahead of him.

“Damn right, we are! Tell us, or I’ll break your bones!!” he threatened.

“Ooh. Save THAT for the Tourney! I suggest you get something to eat, whilst I send someone to tell you what’s going on.” Before anybody can argue, Tes waved his hand, and everyone was teleported once more.
