(Chapter 7) Ice Warriors: Fighting it Out

Hey IW, Raven here!

I hope you all enjoy the story. This intro is really quick, because I’m kind of in a hurry. Thanks for reading!

Chapter 7: The Final Fights

“Our next-to-last fight is Guido, who is up against the Thunder Polygon!”

The fans cheered for the young boy, but inside the box, he was sitting there with a horrified look on his face, and his heart was pumping out of his chest. “Oh, crap…” Guido muttered.

Raven, Gtu, Oregan, Barry, Snow and Purple stared at him with curiosity. “What’s wrong?” asked Purple. “Tes called your name.”

Guido just merely nodded, but Raven seemed to sense his nervousness, as this was his first real fight as an Ice Warrior. “Don’t worry. Just be confident!” she reminded him. Guido just glanced at her with a look of worry, and stepped out of the box.

As he walked up the platform, Guido could see his foe a few metres away. It was humanoid like the Fire Polygon, but less muscular, and it was yellow. Bright sparks of electricity buzzed around it. He walked up to the platform, staring at the monster with worry. The crowd was cheering his name, but he couldn’t hear anything besides from his own thoughts.

Oh, God… Why am I here? he wondered. I’m no high-ranked Ice Warrior like Snow and Raven. Why did Tes choose me, out of all of the others? Guido was so wrapped up in his thinking that he was lucky that the electric monster had missed when shooting a lightning bolt at him. He ran farther and farther from the monster, until he was cornered by the edge of the platform. As he did this, the audience angrily muttered amongst each other. The six in the box were concerned for their fighting friend.

“What’s he doing?” asked Barry. “Why isn’t he fighting?”

“I assume he’s a tad intimidated by this whole fighting thing. After all, it’s only been a few weeks since he first joined the Ice Warriors. This is his first real fight.” Snow replied in suggestion.

Raven wasn’t listening though. She was staring intently at Guido, who had been forced to the platform’s corner. “Guido!” she repeated, “Just be confident!!”

The boy barely managed to hear her words and darted towards his opponent, shutting his eyes as he took the risk. He darted under the Polygon’s feet and grabbed it on the knee, dragging it with him. It landed on the platform with a sickening thud. It got up as quickly as possible and glared at Guido, who looked a little bit braver now. “Bring it on..” he said.

The creature didn’t reply, but fired a large lightning bolt at Guido. It struck him, and the crowd gasped. However, this somewhat didn’t inflict any pain onto him, but it simply tickled. He laughed a little, and when the electricity faded away, there wasn’t a scratch on his body. That thing is probably immune to electricity as well… he thought, I guess we’ll just need to get some hand-to-hand combat on.

Guido charged head first into the Polygon’s stomach, knocking it over. He then smacked it in the face a few times before upper-cutting. The creature was battered up, and clenching its face in pain. This gave Guido a few seconds to kick it, sending more pain into the stomach area.

His heart was no longer beating with fear and nervousness, but with excitement. “Wow, is this really how the others feel when fighting?” While he was distracted, the Thunder Polygon had recovered and kicked Guido in the face, sending him sprawling onto his back. It then reached down to grab him, but the boy grabbed it first and rolled backwards, before throwing it to the edge of the platform.

It stared at him, teetering a little bit before regaining its balance. Suddenly, the creature pulled out two of what appeared to be electrical swords. It gathered large amounts of electricity in its hands, charging up the sword.

This doesn’t look good… Guido thought. He made a split second descision to take the risk. He ran and quickly pinned the Polygon to the ground, snatching one of its elecrtic swords out of its hands. The boy then jumped off the electrical creature, and they clashed swords. Each time the swords hit each other, fiery sparks burned both fighters. However, they didn’t give up. Suddenly, the electrical blast coming from Guido’s sword intensified, blinding everyone and crackling the air.

When the blinding had finished, everyone looked to see the Thunder Polygon, with a hole in its chest. The creature collapsed and faded away. Guido was stunned for about a minute, before breaking into a smile. “YES!” he cried before receiving thunderous applause from the audience as the boy rejoined his fellow troops.

“Way to go, Guido!” Raven smiled, patting him on the back.

“You’ve certainly learnt a lot in training. Well done.” Gtu added, smiling.

“Thanks, guys.” he smiled, “I’m actually quite surprised with how I went.” Guido then sat down, and waited for Tes to announce the final fight. He turned around to see Oregan standing up from his seat.

“The last fight will be Oregan VS The Ape Polygon!” Tes yelled, making the audience cheer. This was the last fight of the day, so it was ought to be exciting.

Oregan stretched, and walked out of the box, saying, “Well, I guess I’m up.”

“Good luck!” Purple called before he walked onto the platform. His opponent was also approaching. It was pretty much just a brown Polygon Clone that was shaped like a gorilla.

“So, this is basically King Kong’s clone?” Oregan said, “At least I’ll get a challenge from this.” The evil ape snorted, and threw a punch at Oregan’s head. The boy moved to the side, however, and the attack missed. He then retaliated with his own punch to the head, and it hit the Polygon, knocking it back.

The monster seemed really annoyed now, and dashed forward, tackling Oregan to the ground. It then began to punch him in the stomach. Oregan winced as he took the hits, but managed to get a punch of his own in, sending the ape flying. The boy quickly jumped up, and pinned the ape to the ground. “Good night.” he smirked at it, before sending one last powerful punch at it, sending it flying off the platform’s edge.

Everyone screamed loudly, and clapped. “AMAZING timing, the quickest we’ve had today!” Tes gasped in awe. “Well, it appears everyone has made it through!”

Oregan returned to the group with a look of pride on his face. “Wow.” sighed an awestruck Barry.

Oregan smiled. “I know. But in the end, I knew we’d all win.”

“INCREDIBLE!”

The seven in the box jumped as Tes appeared behind them yet again. “All eight of the fighters have advanced to the next round! Congratulations!”

“Thank you.” replied Snow on behalf of everyone. “So…what now?”

“You all can return to where you’re staying, and Frozen will show you what you can do for the rest of the day. But, try to get plenty of rest for tomorrow!” With that, Tes teleported them away as the audience left the stadium. He grinned to himself. “Well. All eight of these Ice Warriors are powerful fighters. This is going to be one heck of a tourney!”
