Hey IW, Raven here!
Here’s another chapter! I hope you all enjoy it! ;3
Chapter 8: Connecting
After winning their matches, the eight competitors had returned to where they’d first arrived for about an hour before splitting up to explore the place they were at a little more.
Oregan had managed to find himself in some sort of garden. The sun was shining brightly, forcing him to cover his eyes. From what he could see in the brightness, there didn’t appear to be anyone around, appart from Barry, who was laying on a sun bed under a parasol. Noticing another sun bed and parasol nearby, Oregan moved the two items next to Barry. “Hey, Barry.” he said as he sat next to him.
“Hi.” he replied, “Nice fight you put up today. It was a quick one, too.”
Oregan grinned in thanks. The two boys sat under their parasols and away from the heat for a while, until one of them broke the calming silence. “Hey, changing the subject, you know that quest you told us about a few days ago? With that girl. What’s her name again? She’s one of the Ravens, like Ravenpaw.”
Barry seemed to stiffen a little. “Ravenclaw.” he said slowly. “Her name is Ravenclaw.” Oregan noticed Barry’s body language, and couldn’t help but smirk. Barry himself was confused. “What’s so funny?” he asked, his face turning pink.
“Dude, I think I know why you act so funny whenever you bring RC up.” Barry just stared blankly at Oregan as he told him the answer to his question. “You love her.”
At this point, Barry had fallen off the sunbed, and almost hit his head on the parasol in surprise. “W-what? No, I’m not. I’m just…” The boy’s face was now as red as a tomato.
“I’m not stupid, Barry, admit it.”
Barry tried to think of a reply, but finally gave in. “Fine. I’ve been in love with her ever since we saved the Ice Warriors from that internet incident together. But, I’m just a regular Ice Warrior. Why would she go for me, out of all the other male troops out there?”
Oregan felt sympathetic for the downcast hero, but a smile appeared on his face. “Hey, since when did social classes stop people from confessing their feelings for one another?” he joked, “You both even kissed at one point!”
Barry mulled this thought over. Oregan did have a point. The only thing holding him back was his own feelings. A small smile came onto his own face as he looked at Oregan. “Thanks, Oregan. When we get back to the Ice Warriors, I’ll tell her.” Barry’s friend replied with a thumbs up.
Elsewhere, Guido was roaming the corridors. He seemed to be a little lost, but he managed to find his way back to the cafeteria. Raven was there, tucking herself into a bowl of ice cream, hungry after the fight she’d had. “Hey, Raven!” the girl stopped eating to see who had just spoken to her.
“Hey!” she replied as Guido brought over his own bowl of ice cream and sat next to her. “I bet you’re still chuffed from winning your match.”
“Well…” Guido was suddenly a little lost in thought. After two minutes or so, he finished what he was saying. “I guess I was just really lucky.” he admitted.
“I still think you did extremely well.” Raven smiled. She then noticed the worried look on his face. “What’s wrong?”
Guido sighed. “It’s just that… I don’t know why I’m here. I’m just some Ice Warrior that lives a simple life. Why did Tes pick me, out of all the other Ice Warriors in the world?”
“Maybe he senses potential in you.”
The boy shook his head. “No, he clearly wants high ranked Ice Warriors, who are heroes. Look at you! Look at Gtu and all of the others. You’ve all done something heroic to save the Ice Warriors or even the whole Armyverse. I’m nothing compared to you!”
“GUIDO! Snap out of it, and look at me.” Raven yelled, snapping her fingers in his face. The boy looked her straight in the eye, and to his surprise, she looked quite stern. “Being a hero doesn’t mean saving the world or any of that stuff. It doesn’t mean being famous and powerful. To be a hero, you need two things, and you already have one of them.” she explained.
Guido was suddenly intrigued. “Really…? What are they?” he asked in curiousity.
She smiled, and answered, “Well, you already have a heart of gold, with the will to never give up. Now, you just need to confidence and determination to help yourself as well as others. Once you have that…you will be a hero, in my eyes at least.”
Guido was awestruck. Does Raven really believe I’m hero material? he thought, beaming to himself a little bit. He became slightly misty eyed as his thoughts ran through his mind. “Thanks.” he told her.
“What are friends for?” the girl replied, and the two of them finished their bowls of ice cream together before going back to their room.
Meanwhile, Gtu had just returned to his room. If his suspicions were correct, Maid should be there. And he was right. Her pure black hair was let down, and she was sitting on her bed, staring out the window. “Hey there.” he started, making sure that Maid knew that he was here.
The girl turned her head to look at him. “What do you want?” she asked, a little annoyed that Gtu had just barged in during a little bit of alone time, in her opinion anyway.
“I just wanted to talk a little bit.” he replied. “You’re just…really distant from myself and the others. Why would that be?”
Maid looked away from Gtu. Her voice was now filled with attitude and annoyance. “I just prefer being by myself. Is that too much to ask?”
Gtu shook his head. “I just think you need a bit of company for once. After all, we’re all friends around here.” The boy was now sitting next to Maid, clearly curious of her personality and what she was going to say next.
“Humph. Friends? I don’t need friends. Never have, and never will. What good are they?”
“That’s pretty obvious.” Gtu replied to her argument, “Hanging out with them is fun. And, they help you up, even when you’re down.” Maid said nothing. She still wasn’t convinced with what he was saying. “Did something happen?” The boy then asked. “Maybe something involving family?” Maid seemed to stiffen a little bit like Barry had with Oregan. “Did your family forbid you from having friends before joining the Ice Warriors?” Gtu continued. “Well, that’s pretty stupid.”
Within not even a millisecond, Gtu had been pushed off the bed, and kicked to the ground. Maid was standing above him, with the most aggrivated expression on her face. “Don’t EVER call my family STUPID!!!” she screamed, “It’s NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, GTU! So, I’M telling YOU AND YOUR ‘FRIENDS’ to BACK…OFF!!”
And with that, she stormed out, leaving Gtu totally bewildered.
We now find Snow wandering through the corridors, and he was pretty lost as well. Soon enough, he found himself in a much wider corridor that had double doors at the end. They were red, and bore the strange circular symbol on them.
“I must’ve taken a wrong turn…” he sighed. He turned to leave, but noticed a familiar girl snooping around the double doors. “Purple!” he called out, approaching her. “What are you doing?!”
Purple turned, and looked at Snow with suspicion. “I have a feeling there’s something important behind these doors. It might contain some info on that god…Tes or whatever his name was.”
Snow rolled his eyes. “You still think there’s something going on behind the scenes, don’t you? Oregan told me a bit about what you said yesterday this morning.”
“Yes…” she grunted as she tried to push open the doors. “I do!” Purple had managed to get them open, and the two Ice Warriors peeped inside. They saw a giant computer that was shut down completely. “This looks pretty weird…” she pondered as they entered the dark room.
“What are you two doing?”
The duo turned to see Frozen walking towards them at a fast pace. “We…just got lost, and were checking to see what was behind these doors!” Snow lied quickly.
Frozen stared at him for a moment, before leading him and Purple out of the room. “Well, you can’t come in here. It’s private, and only myself and Tes are allowed.” she scolded. Frozen then slammed the door shut on her way into the room.
“Ok, sorry about that!” Snow called before dragging Purple away with him by the arm.
Once they were out of earshot, the girl faced him. “See? She looked pretty nervous when she saw us enter the room. There MUST be something going on!”
Both of them paused in the silence for a little bit to think. “Actually, you might be right. Should we tell the others?” Snow asked.
Purple began to stand back. “I think it would be the best to keep it in between us and Oregan, because he already knows. If less people know, then Tes and Frozen won’t get their suspicions up.”
“Ok then, but I hope you know what you’re doing.” Snow sighed.
